Quartz Mountain Prospect

The Quartz Mountain Prospect is located to the west of the Umuna Prospect and was previously the region where Misima Mines Pty Ltd extracted an estimated 240,000 ounces of gold from 3 small open pits termed Ewatinona, Maika and Kobel. Ore characteristics were similar to that at Umuna with good recoveries.

Limited detailed information is available on the area however based on exploration activity completed by WCB the following can be discerned.

The Quartz Mountain Prospect is a large area 2km by 1km of high order geochemical anomalism defined by significant coincident strike extensive structurally controlled Au Ag Zn Pb soil anomalies up to 3km in length. The three open pits appear to be developed on the intersection of zones of high lithological contrast between the granodiorite complex and the Halibu Limestone Ara Greenschist contact (similar to Umuna). Material extracted from within the open pits was distinctly brecciated and fractured as is shown in the images below.

Spatially adjacent and overlapping are large areas of high Mo Au anomalism. Areas of weak disseminated copper mineralisation (chalcopyrite) are observed in some areas.  Anomalies are shown below.

Alteration is characterised by sericite - albite - chlorite - silica alteration.

Fluid inclusion data indicate porphyry style fluid characteristics.

Extensive shallow exploration activities have been completed by Misima Mines Pty Ltd which are currently being compiled and further assessed by WCB.

 Ewontinona Mineralisation

Ewontinona Mineralisation: 2.64 g/t Au, 7.9 g/t Ag, 0.95% Pb, 1.06% Zn

Distribution of gold is structurally controlled within a north west trending corridor with high grade (+5g/t Au) material associated with brecciation as shown from pit mapping at Ewatinona.
